Strictly upright branches form a tall, narrow column of coarse, dark green foliage. This slow growing conifer grows 6" to 1' per year and its mature size is around 10' tall by 2' wide. The slim pillar creates an architectural presence in the ground or a container. 'Beanpole' grows best in light shade, but will tolerate full sun, especially in moist, well-drained soil. The specimen is appealing all season and is hardy to Zone 4.
