One of the heaviest flowering and fruiting varieties, Gala offers an outstanding display of white flowers in mid-season (mid-Spring). While it is self fertile, it still benefits to have a mid-season pollinator nearby for optimal pollination. Pollinators include Red and Golden Delicious, Fuji and Honeycrisp. Gala's apples resist bruising and can be stored in a refrigerator for up to 6 months. Its flavor is sweet with a slight tang. Originating in New Zealnd, Gala is best known for its taste, texture, sweetness, large fruits, ease of growing and heavy production. This semi-dwarf tree reachs 12-14' tall and wide and is best grown in full sun. Hardy to Zone 4.
