Prairie Blazing Star is an impressive native, growing up to 4-6' tall in July and August. Dense flower spikes of tiny purple-pink flowers bloom from the top down. Prefers well drained soil, but will grow in clay. Similar to Liatris spicata, but taller. Attracts songbirds, hummingbirds, butterflies, bees and parasitic wasps. Hardy to Zone 3.
