Annie Nichols owns and runs her own vermicomposting operation in rural Wyanet. Annie has been composting for years, in conjunction with local businesses, schools, and community members. Her operation produces high quality bulk vermicast to agriculture and growing operations. Annie also raises and sells compost worms and gives classes and demonstrations to others interested in vermicomposting on any scale. Annie's Home Farm can be found online if you would like to learn more about the operation.
Come to this fascinating workshop where Annie talks about composting for a finished product that you will use and love in your garden and houseplants. Vermicasts are a byproduct of providing food scraps buried in bedding to composting worms. Vermicasts are rich, dark and stable humus, turning food back into the basic organic matter from whence it all came. Vermicomposting is a quick process too, as much as three times faster than traditional composting. This step towards sustainability and reducing your food waste can be easily achieved with what you learn in Annie's Workshop.
Annie's excitement and personality are infections, and she will walk you through creating your bin, maintaining and feeding your worms, and sorting/harvesting your Vermicastings for use. Choose one of two workshop options: $75 sends you home with your newly built indoor Vermicomposter, handmade bedding, and 1000 live compost worms grown by Annie herself. If you aren't ready to jump in with both feet, we are also offering a $10 workshop option for attendees that would like to learn and listen but do not want to drive home with worms that day. $10 option does not include the bin, bedding, or worms, but you can still learn and observe to fulfill this yourself at a later date.
