Tom Thumb Oriental Spruce
Picea orientalis ‘Tom Thumb’
A striking miniature oriental spruce with bright golden needles radiating from a tightly layered globe. ‘Tom Thumb’ is a very slow-growing sport of Picea orientalis ‘Skylands’, prized for its vivid color and compact, nest-like habit. In the garden it stays low and spreading, with short foliage that hugs stubby branches—a perfect evergreen for rock gardens, troughs, patios, or other small spaces. For best year-round color, plant in plenty of sun, but avoid overly hot spots, such as next to an air conditioner or brick wall.
