Acer palmatum ‘Peve Starfish’

‘Peve Starfish’ is a playful and textured Japanese maple selection named for its starfish‑like leaf lobes, which give the tree an airy, whimsical presence in the garden. The finely dissected foliage emerges a bright red in spring, creating a bright, feathery canopy that holds its color through summer with good persistence in part shade or morning sun conditions. This color slowly fades to bronze-maroon. 

As temperatures cool, the foliage transitions into warm shades of red, offering strong fall color that lights up the landscape. Its compact, layered habit and relatively modest mature size make ‘Peve Starfish’ an excellent choice for small gardens, courtyard focal points, patios, and containers where its unique leaf form can be appreciated up close.
