This is a large shrub, but if you have the space, it is quite interesting. 'Aphrodite' is a hybrid with large, fragrant, maroon, magnolia-like flowers, with some reblooming. The foliage is a glossy green. Prune to shape after flowering, if needed. It can handle full sun, but may be best grown in part shade, where it grows 5-8' tall with a spread of 5-6'. Hardy to Zone 5.
