One of our favorites! Pinky Winky® has an unusual name and an even more unusual flower. The huge, white panicles open in mid to late summer, then start turning pink from the base upwards, while still pushing a snow cone of white from the tips. Eventually, the whole flower turns a deep rosy red and holds that color into November if planted in afternoon shade. The plant grows 6-8' tall and wide. Prune back by a third in early spring to control size, if desired. Hardy to Zone 3. Morning sun and afternoon shade is best. However, if watered well throughout the dry season, grouped plantings of panicle hydrangeas in full sun can be spectacular!
