'Bridal Veil' is an arendsii hybrid type, producing classic white plumes 28-30 inches tall in early summer. The lacy white panicles gently droop at the tips, lending a frothy look to the clump. Grows best in a shady to partly shady location provided with consistent moisture. A layer of mulch around the plant helps to retain moisture. A bit of morning sun will make astilbe bloom better. Hardy to Zone 4.
Most information given out about Astilbes indicates that they can grow in full sun to full shade. However, they need lots of moisture, and when they get dry, their tops quickly turn crispy, sacrificing the tops to save the roots. For that reason, we recommend a shady location. A bit of morning sun will result in better blooming. And a mulch will help hold in the moisture. Just don't let them dry out.
