'Black Scallop' is a smaller-scale groundcover with glossy, near-black, scalloped leaves. It stays nice and compact as it spread a bit each year. Being shallow rooted, it is easy to control if it spreads further than desired at some point. The plants are covered with an explosion of blue flowers, just a few inches tall, in mid to late spring. Ajuga does well in sun or shade. Hardy to Zone 4.
