Lemongrass is a fast growing, lush green grass that is attractive both aesthetically and culinarily. Grows well in a container or out in the garden. One of my favorite uses for it is as an ingredient in Tom Kha, which is an Asian soup with a coconut milk base. Lemongrass adds depth to many classic Asian dishes. It prefers full sun and rich loamy soils. The foliage turns to a burgundy/red in fall before it dies back. Can be overwintered indoors if a bright sunny space is available. Grows 2-4' tall and 1-3' wide. Hardy to Zone 10.
