The tree form of this very popular variety produces very early blooms--early to mid June--which turn to bright pink, then red. May need staked when young until the trunk thickens and strengthens. Prune back the top by half or more in early spring on a young plant to prevent it from becoming too top-heavy. Plant in sun to part shade. Flowers hold up better in afternoon shade. Grows 8'-10' tall and 8' wide. Hardy to Zone 4.
