Russian sage is a perfect perennial for hot, dry locations, and is also exceptionally cold hardy. 'Prime Time' produces dusky purple calyxes that hold blue flowers. The calyxes remain colorful well into fall, giving the plant the impression it is still in bloom after flowering has ended. The upright habit is made of slightly dissected oval leaves for a very full appearance. 'Prime Time' grows 30-36 inches tall with a spread of 24-30 inches, and is hardy to Zone 4. It performs very well in full sun and any well-drained soil. Average to dry moisture levels are idea. Prune in the spring when new growth appears and prune back to just above the lowest bud.
