The Canadian Hemlock is a magnificent evergreen with a softly pyramidal outline. It likes moist, but well drained, slightly acidic soil, and does not tolerate drought well. A native to eastern and central Canada and the United States, growing naturally in cooler climates and higher altitudes. For this reason, it might be best if planted in some afternoon shade here in our climate, and be sure to provide moisture during dry spells. Can grow 40-70' tall and 25-35' wide. Hardy to Zone 3.
