Huge, deep purplish red, spoon-shaped flowers are nearly 8 inches across. The large green throat is a nice contrast to the dark petals. 'Persian Ruby' is an early midseason bloomer (early July) and compared to the popular 'Ruby Spider', its flowers are more purple in color.

Daylilies put on a show of color in summer in the sunny garden and are low-maintenance, easy to grow, and very hardy. Daylilies can survive many harsh conditions including: slopes, poor and dry soils, near pavement that is salted in winter, and under Black Walnut trees (not affected by juglone).
