Astilbe 'Vision Vulcano' #1

'Visions Volcano' produces fluffy, upright plumes of reddish-pink flowers, blooming from mid-summer to fall. The dark maroon leaves emerge and mature to dark green. Grows 27" tall. Best in part to full shade. Hardy to Zone 3.

Most information given out about Astilbes indicates that they can grow in full sun to full shade. However, they need lots of moisture, and when they get dry, their tops quickly turn crispy, sacrificing the tops to save the roots. For that reason, we recommend a shady location. A bit of morning sun will result in better blooming. And a mulch will help hold in the moisture. Just don't let them dry out.
