A selection of river birch with light green, glossy foliage, turning yellow in fall. Wonderful, exfoliating bark is light tan, peeling to expose mottled patches of cream, orange and pinkish tan colors. Grows in full sun, 40' tall and 30' wide. Hardy to Zone 4. As a mature tree, the river birch tends to drop quite a few small twigs and branches during wind storms, so it may be best planted out in the lawn where the mower can chop up the bulk of the fallen twigs.
