As hardy as the American persimmon and as large as the Asian, Nikita’s plentiful crops of 2-1/2 inch, flattish, red-orange fruit are certainly gifts. When fully ripe and soft, this second-generation hybrid persimmon is sweet and flavorful. Fall foliage is a gorgeous, vivid orange color. This variety originated at Nikita Botanic Garden in Yalta, Ukraine. Unlike other persimmon varieties, it is considered self-fertile. Grows 15' tall and prefers full sun. Hardy to Zone 6.
