Malus domestica 'Deer Apple' #3

This adaptable tree supports wildlife and beneficial insects with its vital pollen and small, reddish, tart fruits. In spring, fragrant pink buds burst into white blooms that are eventually followed by the round fruit in late September. Shrubby, green foliage fills out the plant the rest of the growing season before dropping in the winter. 'Deer Apple' gets its name from how supportive this tree is to deer populations, providing fruit throughout the winter. This tree is also highly disease resistant. Malus domestica 'Deer Apple' will grow 15-30 feet tall and wide, but can be pruned to keep smaller if needed. Grows best in full sun and is hardy to Zone 4.
