Common name: Coral Bells (This one is a member of the DOLCEĀ® series.)
New leaves are bright red, heavily ruffled, and form a low, mounding habit. In summer, the bright color persists, maturing to a rich mahogany red. Dark burgundy stems hold light pink flowers and dark rose scapes from early to midsummer. A wonderful color for all seasons. The mound of foliage reaches 10" tall and up to 30" wide over time, with flowers scapes rising to 22" tall. Heuchera can grow anywhere from sun to shade, but seem to do best with some afternoon shade or filtered sun. Hardy to Zone 4.
Coral bells are easy to grow and blend easily with most other perennials in the landscape. Because of their low, mounding habit, they are often used as edging along paths or in containers. Try cutting a few of the tall flower scapes for fresh bouquets.
