This variety of Black Snakeroot is a little shorter than most others. It has striking, dark purplish-black foliage. In late summer, fragrant, bottlebrush flowers open mauve-pink then lighten to white. Grows in part to full shade, standing 4-5' tall and around 2' wide. Hardy to Zone 4.
Cimicifuga is a wonderfully lacy, airy backdrop in the garden. It is especially attractive when combined with variegated or yellow foliage.
