Saponaria ocymoides, commonly called rock soapwort, is a low-growing, mat-forming perennial that reaches about 6 to 9 inches in height. It is prized for its cascading habit and profusion of small, bright pink flowers that bloom in late spring to early summer, creating a carpet of color. This drought-tolerant plant thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, making it an excellent choice for rock gardens, slopes, and edging. Easy to grow and resistant to deer, Saponaria ocymoides adds charm and softness to the landscape while attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies.

After flowering, shear back by about half to encourage branching, bushy growth and reblooming.
