Trillium grandiflorum is also known as White Wake Robin, Wood Lily, and Stinking Benjamin (!?). This native is a wildflower that grows in wooded areas and spreads slowly by underground rhizomes. The leaves and the white flowers appear in threes, thus the name Trillium. Flowers stand up to 18" tall, and are followed by berry-like capsules. Seeds are disbursed by ants. Plant in a shady garden and leave it alone. The foliage will die to the ground in summer, especially if soil is allowed to dry out. Hardy to Zone 4.
