(American Hazelnut) easy to grow; produces nuts in late summer. 

North American Native. Naturalizes to form thickets- good for hedgerow or windbreak; tolerant of Black Walnut and clay soils. Annual crop of small sweet nuts are highly attractive to wildlife and humans alike; host for bird nesting; copper/yellow fall color; prune any time of year; Full/Partial Sun; 6-15' tall and wide; Zone 4

Planting and Cultivation Notes
This is a unisex species, with separate male and female parts on the same branch. A single shrub will produce some nuts, but as a wind pollinated species, 3-5 shrubs are recommended for optimal nut production.
