Asimina triloba 'Prolific' GRAFT #3

As implied by the name, this variety produces an abundance of fruit. Fruit is medium-large in size with a light, tropical taste and ripens in mid September. Tree performs well in partial shade. The golden fall leaf-color is an added benefit.  Careful thinning can increase fruit size. Cross-pollination is needed to grow fruit. This can be achieved by planting a different variety nearby, 10-15' away for best results. These trees can handle full sun, but they benefit from afternoon shade, especially in the first two years. If they are planted in full sun, be sure to stay on top of watering during the first two seasons. Grafted Paw Paws grow approximately 15-20 ft. tall and wide, but you can keep them at a more manageable size by heading the trees at 8-10' and removing suckers. Hardy to Zone 4.
