Paperbark Maple

Paperbark Maple is a highly ornamental small tree prized for its exceptional year-round interest, especially its striking, cinnamon-colored exfoliating bark that peels in thin curls to reveal warm tones beneath. This bark feature provides outstanding winter appeal unmatched by most small trees. Fine-textured, trifoliate dark green leaves create a soft summer canopy before turning vivid shades of red and orange in fall. Spring flowers are subtle but support early pollinating insects. Best grown in sun to part shade with moist, well-drained soils, Paperbark Maple is ideal as a specimen tree, near walkways, or in intimate garden settings where its bark can be appreciated up close.
