‘Wepster’ is a productive European hazelnut cultivar selected for its strong growth, excellent nut quality, and reliable yields. In late winter to early spring, abundant yellow catkins appear before the foliage, providing early seasonal interest and pollen. The large, flavorful hazelnuts mature in fall and are well suited for fresh eating and processing. Medium green leaves form a dense canopy through summer before turning yellow in autumn. ‘Wepster’ performs best in sun to part shade with well-drained soils and benefits from consistent moisture during establishment. For dependable nut production, it should be planted with a different Corylus avellana cultivar, such as ‘York’ or ‘McDonald’, to ensure proper cross-pollination.
