Ajuga ‘Cordial Canary’ is a bright golden bugleweed bred by Michigan plantsman Chris “Sparky” Hansen, developed as a gold counterpart to Ajuga ‘Chocolate Chip'. It forms a tight, low mound of narrow chartreuse-gold leaves that slowly widens, topped in spring with blue-lavender flower spikes that attract bees and butterflies. This variety performs best in morning sun to part sun with slightly moist, well-drained soil, where the foliage color stays brightest. It is deer and rabbit resistant, low maintenance, and well suited to use as a modern “green mulch” groundcover.
