Sourwood
Oxydendrum arboreum

A small, native deciduous tree prized for its multi-season appeal. In midsummer, it produces fragrant white flower panicles that attract bees and butterflies. Its glossy green foliage develops brilliant shades of red and orange in fall, creating a striking autumn display. Upright, pyramidal, and naturally well-structured, it works beautifully as a specimen tree, in mixed borders, or in woodland gardens. Prefers acidic, moist, well drained soil. Intolerant of drought, so site it next to water or be prepared to provide supplimental water during dry periods.

Why We Love It: Stunning fall color, fragrant summer blooms, and wildlife value—bees and butterflies will love it as much as you do
