A small, upright native tree, Downy Serviceberry delights throughout the seasons. In early spring, its clouds of fragrant white flowers herald the coming season, followed by edible purple berries that attract birds and pollinators in summer. The berries are also edible and tasty for us humans! Its finely textured foliage transitions to vibrant shades of orange and red in the fall, providing multi-season color. Preferring sun to part shade and well-drained soil, this native to Illinois tree is perfect as a specimen, in mixed borders, or for naturalizing areas.
