Carya illinoinensis ‘Hark’ (grafted)

Hark Pecan

‘Hark’ is a cold-hardy pecan cultivar developed for reliable nut production in northern growing regions. It is a Type I (protandrous) pecan, meaning pollen is shed before female flowers become receptive, and it cross-pollinates successfully with Type II cultivars such as ‘Lakota’ and 'Oswego' making it an excellent pollinator partner in mixed plantings. In spring, yellow-green catkins appear, followed by medium to large, thin-shelled pecans that mature in fall. Fine-textured foliage creates a broad summer canopy before turning golden yellow in autumn. Grafted trees ensure consistent nut quality and earlier production. Best grown in full sun with deep, fertile, well-drained soils, ‘Hark’ is well suited to orchards and large landscapes where compatible pollinators are present.
