Canadian Serviceberry is a graceful native small tree or large shrub valued for its elegant form and reliable four-season interest. In early spring, abundant white flowers emerge before the foliage, providing an important nectar source for early pollinators. Sweet, edible red-purple berries follow in summer and are highly attractive to birds and wildlife. Its finely textured green leaves transition to glowing shades of orange, red, and yellow in fall. Well suited to sun to part shade and moist, well-drained soils, this Illinois native performs beautifully in naturalized plantings, woodland edges, rain gardens, or as a multi-stemmed specimen.
