Carya illinoinensis ‘Oswego’ (grafted)

Oswego Pecan

‘Oswego’ is a cold-hardy pecan cultivar selected for dependable nut production in northern pecan-growing regions. It is a Type II (protogynous) pecan, with female flowers receptive before pollen shed, and it cross-pollinates successfully with Type I cultivars such as ‘Hark’ and ‘Pawnee’, making it a strong choice for balanced orchard plantings. In spring, yellow-green catkins appear, followed by medium to large, thin-shelled pecans that ripen in fall. Fine-textured foliage creates an elegant summer canopy before turning golden yellow in autumn. As a grafted selection, ‘Oswego’ offers consistent nut quality and earlier bearing than seed-grown trees. Best grown in full sun with deep, fertile, well-drained soils, it is well suited to orchards and large landscapes where compatible pollinators are present.
