Pinus s. 'Biltmore Blue' #6

'Biltmore Blue' is a dwarf white pine that forms a small tree with nice blue color reaching 3-4 ft in height and width in 10 years. It is slow growing, staying dwarf for many years, making it good for small spaces in the garden, fairy gardens and railroad gardens, but can apparently reach 20' or more tall and wide in time. It was discovered as a dwarf mutation high up on a white pine on the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC. The story goes that a local marksman shot the mutation out of the tree with a gun. Then a local nursery grafted the branches from this mutation. Handles full sun and is hardy to Zone 3.
