This shade tolerant large shrub or small tree is perfect for the wood's edge or under taller shade trees. 'Arnold Promise' is a particularly desirable witchhazel because of its consistently heavy crop of fragrant, yellow flowers in late winter or very early spring. Nice yellow and orange fall foliage color. Plant in full sun to part shade. It appreciates a slightly acidic soil, but is very adaptable. Grows 12-15' tall and wide and is hardy to Zone 5.
