Common Name: Bigleaf Ligularia
Broad, glossy, dark chocolate leaves with dark purple undersides make an extremely bold statement in the shade garden. In late summer, golden orange, daisy-like flowers are perched atop purplish-black stems for an all-together captivating composition. There's nothing quite like it! Plant in part to full shade, where it grows 3-4' tall and 2-3' wide. Hardy to Zone 4.
Plant yellow-foliaged plants such as Hosta 'Coast to Coast' near this dark leafed beauty for a great color contrast.
