This is the tree form of one of our favorites. Incredible, large, two-toned flower heads start white, and turn pink, but continue to push new white flowers from the top, eventually turning a deep rosy red all over. The flowers hold their color into November if planted in afternoon shade. May need staked when young until the trunk thickens and strengthens. Prune back the top by half or more in early spring on a young plant to prevent it from becoming too top-heavy. Plant in sun to part shade. Flowers hold up better in afternoon shade. Grows to 10' tall and 8' wide. Hardy to Zone 4.
