The bottlebrush buckeye is a fantastic native shrub for late spring flowers. It's a colonizing plant that forms a broad mound with long, bottlebrush-shaped, white flowers that are held upright at the end of branches. It likes moisture, and can handle full sun, but it is more often grown in part shade to nearly full shade in an understory setting. A large shrub, it grows 8-12 feet tall, and spreads 8-15 feet. Hardy to Zone 4.
