Pendulous branches drape from an upright leader as this unusual beech matures into a unique, living sculpture. Faster growing than 'Purpurea Pendula'. Grows tall and narrow without training. Foliage is the copper beech type, coppery red in spring, maturing to deeper purple. Grows in full sun, 20-30' tall and 10-15' wide. Hardy to Zone 5. There is a fine specimen growing in the front yard of the house here at the Gardens, but check out the more mature tree growing in the back yard on the northwest corner of the house.
