Shenandoahâ„¢ was the first variety of Peterson Paw Paws. It is very popular with pawpaw newbies and continues to be a hit at farmers markets. The flavor is smooth and mellow, sweet and mild. However you want to put it, its custardy texture is a perfect blend. Fruits up to 1 pound each are fleshy with 6% seed weight. Shenandoahâ„¢ provide good yields and responds well to pruning. This variety ripens mid-season to fall. Paw Paws are native to North America and the fruit can only be found when it is in season at farmers markets. Trees grow 10-15' tall and are hardy to Zone 5.
