York European Hazelnut
‘York’ is a productive European hazelnut selection grown for its large, flavorful nuts and attractive, upright-rounded form. In late winter to early spring, showy yellow catkins appear, providing early seasonal interest and pollen for insects. Edible hazelnuts mature in fall and are well suited for fresh eating and culinary use. Medium green foliage forms a dense canopy through summer before turning yellow in autumn. Best grown in sun to part shade with well-drained soils, ‘York’ benefits from consistent moisture during establishment and performs best when planted with a different European hazelnut cultivar to ensure proper cross-pollination and reliable nut production.
